Honey Noble and Neil Welch

Honey Noble - Honey Noble is a singer-songwriter project headed by pianist and vocalist Katie Jacobson. The group (which also includes Evan Woodle on drums, Luke Bergman on bass, Andrew Olmstead on keyboard, and Anna Freedman on vocals) labels their music as “eccentric improvisitory folk,” blending Jacobson’s background as a jazz vocalist with her interest in storytelling and lyric writing. Jacobson’s quiet melodies and clear vocals accentuate the poetic quality of her contemplative and honest lyrics, bringing the listener images of sweet coriander, flowers in a woman’s hair, the black smoke of fire, and a dark starlit night spent on the sea.
Neil Welch - Cluster, mute, smear, rangy, scream, blast.  Saxophonist and composer Neil Welch is an active mover of modern music. Approaching the instrument as more a tool for sound textures, Neil’s work is often highly polarizing.  His music was called a “superior work of art” by All About Jazz, and “completely devoid of melody, rhythm, or that thing called listenability — not music” by Jazz Weekly.  Neil’s audiences often become fervent devotees or absolute critics.
