Seattle-based vocalist, M Ruby, digs deep into the structure of jazz, unearthing new layers of emotional honesty, rhythmic sensibility, and inspired melody in every performance. Ruby incorporates the lyricism of Chet Baker, the intimacy of Miles Davis, the hard swinging phrases of Ella Fitzgerald, and the bare vulnerability of Nina Simone. A Kreielsheimer Scholarship recipient and graduate of Cornish College of the Arts, Ruby has studied extensively with Johnaye Kendrick, Chuck Deardorf, Jay Clayton, and Cindy Bourquin Dicken. Since stepping into the Seattle jazz community in 2014, Ruby has worked with Darin Clendennin, Chris Symer, D'Vonne Lewis, Eric Verlinde, Chuck Deardorf, Jonas Myers, Dean Schmidt, Max Holmberg, Jesse Sullivan, Will Lone, Dominic LeCouturier, and Ben Feldman.
