Happy and You Know It

Happy and You Know It is the pop music project of Ohio native/Seattle resident Bill Palmer.  Since 2002, Palmer has self-released six full-length solo albums, a handful of EPs, and has appeared on several compilations.  He also plays guitar, sings, and co-writes in Seattle guitar-rock band Dogbreth, which has toured the United States extensively, and was a member of the Akron, Ohio punk duo Litter Party.

Happy and You Know It, which consists of Palmer and a rotating cast of musicians, is a project built for self-exploration.  A fan of Mount Eerie, Jeff Tweedy, and Elliott Smith, Palmer began making CD-Rs of his songs for his friends in 2004. An obsessive and unrelenting writing ethic led him to a list of approximately 30 songs for 'He,' whittled down and recorded in complete solitude over a two week period at his home in South Seattle in the winter of 2017.  The result is a shimmering, understated, deeply contemplative record tackling subjects of masculinity, monogamy, and class.
