Elliott Bay Blues Band with the Brendan McGovern Quartet

The Elliott Bay Blues Band brings classic blues, delta blues and southern rock, covering songs by Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Tab Benoit, Ray Charles, The Beatles, Free, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Gary Clark Jr., Jonny Lang and more.

Brendan McGovern is a multi instrumentalist born and raised in Seattle. He has played the saxophone and piano for over 12 years, clarinet for 7 years, and flute for 2 years. He played in the nationally acclaimed Roosevelt High School jazz band, and later graduated from UW with a BM in Jazz Performance. Brendan has always been interested in music that blends genres. That and his recent explorations into the flute have led him to prepare the Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano Trio, by French pianist/composer Claude Bolling. In seven distinct movements, the suite draws inspiration primarily from the Baroque era of Classical music combined with swing and bebop from jazz. Brendan will be performing with a brand new band for the occasion, featuring Remy Morritt on drums, Marina Christopher on bass, and his one and only father, Monty McGovern on piano. This is Brendan’s first gig as a leader since returning from his travels in Southeast Asia and other places. He hopes you can make it out to enjoy this much beloved piece.
